Bangin’ Curry Franklin | Delicious Eats

This week’s food adventure is at Bangin’ Curry Franklin!

Bangin' Curry Franklin TruckBangin’ Curry Franklin is a food truck specialized in Japanese curry. The truck is located on 18th st and Washington Avenue, near the park and an auto shop. This food truck is only open on Friday 4pm – 9pm and Saturday 12pm – 9pm (according to yelp).

I was so excited to go get myself some of this bangin’ curry (see what I did there?). Last month I made an attempt to go to this place and get myself some curry but it was a failed attempt because they were closed and I assume it was due to the cold weather.

Although Bangin’ Curry Franklin is a food truck, they do have chairs where you can sit and wait as they prep your food, however, do know there are no tables. Food are prepared per order therefore expect to wait, however, wait time depends on how much is being ordered.

I ordered 1 Pork Katsu Curry, 1 Chicken Katsu Curry and 1 Furikake Fries; the wait time was 12 – 15 minutes.

The chef will take down your name and number, he will give you a call once your food is ready. To me the wait time was reasonable because I know it takes a while to fry the pork and chicken katsu. If you don’t want to wait call ahead to order, that way when you arrive the food is ready.

The price for the curry is $9.5o, which is a reasonable for a curry katsu plate considering at Terakawa you would have to pay $10 and at Ramen Bar is $12. For $9.5o the portion was very generous, you get a heaping portion of rice, a side of shredded cabbage salad, Japanese curry and a large piece of pork or chicken. I actually had a difficult time finishing because of the portion.

Pork Katsu CurryThe katsu was nice and crispy and cooked to perfection. I have to say the highlight was certainly the curry, it had potatoes, carrots and shreds and chunks of beef. Often the curry on a katsu curry makes me nauseous but this one does not, it was so flavorful and delicious.

I also ordered their furikake fries $5, which was regular cut fries with furikake flakes and topped with their sriracha and wasabi sauce, I have to say it was oddly delicious. I am not a wasabi fan but that wasabi sauce was delicious! The portion of this fries was too much for one person to eat, or even two. My dad and I couldn’t finish the fries, I ate it again for dinner.

I have to say this place is worth a try, I actually can’t wait to go back to it again.
